I have been fortunate to be blessed with an extensive career as an educator, administrator, and counselor.   My main focus for the past ten years has been working with children and their families as they dealt with transitions such as divorce, death, grief, the diagnosis of chronic illness, mental health issues, and learning disabilities.  I work with children, adults, families, and couples who want to learn ways to meet life’s changing demands and challenges.

I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is the key factor in counseling individuals of any age. I work to create a safe, relaxed, and trusting environment where my clients can learn, grow, and change. In working with my clients, communication is a fundamental skill many families and couples struggle with.  I place a strong emphasis on developing communication skills as a way to help clients move toward their goals.

My clients find me to be compassionate, but also no nonsense. Although I favor Solution Focused and Narrative therapies, I tend to be more eclectic in my methods to best respond to client needs.

I understand it can be difficult to find a therapist who “fits” what a client is looking for.  Referrals from family and friends can be a good idea, but the therapist Auntie Kalei loved, may not be perfect for you.  I do recommend calling the therapists you are interested in and asking questions to decide who might be that best “fit.”

I look forward to your phone call.
